How We Choose Deals

The fields and checks that should support a SearchForDeal deal post.

A “deal” should mean more than a bright sale badge.

Minimum deal record

  • Exact product/model where possible.
  • Merchant/seller.
  • Condition: new, open-box, refurbished, used, etc.
  • Current price and material coupon/membership requirement.
  • Supportable comparison price if one is shown.
  • Verification date.
  • Return/warranty details when they materially change the value.

Deal score

If you use a numeric deal score, document the formula and keep it consistent. Suggested components include price position, condition, product usefulness, merchant/return quality, and whether the offer requires unusual restrictions.

Expired deals

Keep useful editorial context but clearly mark the offer expired when the price or availability no longer matches the deal post.
